Dont even know what to say on this one. As i may have mentioned one or two thousand times, favorite band all time is ACDC. I have seen them live 7 times in my 42 years, and each time holds a special place in my heart. They were the first real rock and roll band I went to see as a kid of 14. I dont know what possessed my parents to let me travel to Toronto without adult supervision with my neighbour to see them play, but it is the exact point in my life when I can honestly say I was hooked on rock and roll music forever. I will fight with my dying breath, that you cannot beat this band in terms of live performance, showpersonship, heart, and spine shaking guitars, drums, and screeched lyrics about drinking, screwing, and rocking.
Sorry you just cant.
There were people doing all of the above next to us in the stands! Joints were passed around, flasks were passed around, a couple decided that the row in front of us was the best place to have some coitus. Like right in front of me.
I mean there was an actual riot after the show. Police cars were flipped, the Go train stopped service because people were throwing rocks through the windows of the train. WE WERE TRAPPED AT THE CNE ALONE UNTIL 4AM! There were no cell phones back then, our parents went to bed assuming we would be home at some point and put ourselves to bed. I was 14. 14.
So how could a person not be hooked, now would every ACDC show from that point on bring about the same things? No, but they were all special for different reasons.
So when you have a connection to a band that runs this deep, that has been in existance almost as long as you have been alive, it is tough to acknowledge that they wont be around forever, that eventually age, the grind, the lifestyle will catch up to them at some point. That they will be faced with very tough decisions.
ACDC has def had an uphill battle the last couple of years, with Malcolm getting sick, the douche drummer having domestic assault issues and now Brian and his hearing problems. They replaced Malcolm with his son, and they have had multiple drummers over the years, but how do you replace the iconic voice of Brian?
Apparently the answer is Axl Rose. UGH.
I cant even tell you how much I hate this guy.
Alot of people my age think that Guns and Roses were this amazing band. I do not fall into that group. Did i listen to them, yup, did i see them live, yup, does their music sum up a piece of the 80's/90's for me, nope, were they any good live, nope, did they actually look like they had any heart or cared about the fans, nope. I seriously cannot get behind this decision.
I feel like this is a reality show nightmare waiting to happen. Like a tribal council where a major blindside is about to happen, everyone knows it is going to happen watching at home, but there isnt anything anyone can do about, screaming NO DONT DO IT at your tv or computer screen doesnt seem to reach the people you intent it to nor would they listen to you anyway.
I guess my biggest disappointment is that I may never get the chance to see the band I loved, the band that started me listening and appreciating live music will never be the same, and that I may never get the chance to pass that experience on to my son Angus. Yup, that is why he is named Angus. I had the chance last September, but unfortunately work commitments took priority and we didnt go. I am really kicking myself over this now.
So to those of you out there that never got the chance to see them live, I honestly feel sorry for you that you didnt get to see the real deal. Those going to see the Axl Rose version, well

Workouts this week:
Monday: off
Tuesday: 1500m swim + 13mile ride
Wednesday: 2000m swim + 5km run
Thursday: 5000m swim
Friday: off
Saturday: 20mile ride + 2km run
Sunday: 6.25mile run
Not sure what any of that has to do with a work out log, but had to get the poison out. Great week altogether - pushed the limits on distance for all three disciplines. First 5km swim of the season, and the first almost 10km run in probably a year. Going to be time to start moving a couple things a week out doors, just need the snow to eff off, another storm last week has left everything really greasy.
Oh well, fingers crossed we start to get some of the sun we had this sunday a little more often!
